UPDATE: City crews still working to repair burst water pipe in Eveleigh

It is projected that supplies will be restored later today.

Municipal crews are still working to fix the burst water pipe in Eveleigh and restore water to affected customers.

Thousands of homes and businesses in the area and surrounding suburbs have been left without water after a major pipe burst corner of Edgar and Trichardts roads.

Ward 22 Cllr Madelaine Muller said the team working to repair the pipe told her that the repair process took longer than expected because of the complexity of the area where the pipe is located.

“However, in an update this afternoon, the team said they were making great progress and was on track to complete the repairs. They expect to have the main water supply pipe fixed by the end of the day.”

Water service is expected to be restored later this evening. Once water service has been restored, customers should expect low water pressure at first as water needs to evenly distribute throughout the system tonight.

Burst water main cuts off thousands of properties

After the large water main had burst in the street yesterday, the team worked through the day to fix the burst pipe, and water was subsequently restored to all affected properties. However, the pipe burst again. This again left residents without drinking water as the crews work to fix the burst water pipe in the area

Muller said, while this was not anticipated, she has made arrangements to get a water tanker available for affected residents. A water tanker is stationed in Edgar Road.
