Winter Wool Drive: Community keeps the ball rolling!
Our drop-off points across Boksburg are steadily filling up or supporters are arriving at our offices with armfuls of donations.
One stitch at a time, the Boksburg Advertiser Winter Wool Drive is once again blanketing the city in warmth.
Now in its 10th years, this remarkable initiative is – again – enjoying the wholehearted support of our community, either through donations of completed knitted/crocheted items or balls and balls of wool and yarn, as well as knitting needles and crochet hooks.
Our drop-off points across Boksburg are steadily filling up or supporters are arriving at our offices with armfuls of donations.
Not a scrap will go unused as we busy ourselves distributing the items to knitting circles to transform into special winter creations for the needy or to NPOs who can quickly use their networks to get the items where they’re most needed.
Project founder and co-ordinator Elize Kluyts, an advertising manager at Caxton Media, said the community of Boksburg never ceases to amaze us with their generosity.
“Thank you one and all for every item or ball of wool donated. Winter has certainly set in with the demand for warm clothing increasing every day. We are proud to be making a difference in a small way and grateful for the support of our drop-off points and partners.”

Pam Tennant of Bardene donated a
box full of wool and the most beautiful
crocheted jerseys, baby-grows and baby
blankets. What a talented lady with a big
heart!
