EMPD headquarters relocate

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department's headquarters are relocating from Bedfordview to Kempton Park.

The headquarters will be moved to the City House building, which is situated on the corner of Long Street and Margaret Avenue.

The offices will be located on the second, third and fourth floor.

“It is a strategic decision that law enforcement be located in close proximity to the nucleas of the Aerotropolis, the OR Tambo International Airport, which is a key national point,” said EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago.

The offices of the chief of police, as well as the deputy chiefs of police for operations, staff governance and performance, auxiliary services, and security and loss control, will be located in the building.

These divisions constitute the Intengrity and Standards Unit, Research and Legal Compliance, Personnel, Loss Control and Investigations, Fines Administration, and Media Liaison and Public Relations Units.

The relocation started in May and is expected to be complete by the end of June.
