Alleged sex scandal surfaces at Brakpan High School

According to a report in a daily newspaper, teachers at Brakpan High School allegedly demanded sex from learners in exchange for good marks.

The article states that two learners did have sex with their teachers, and allegedly fell pregnant.

According to the report, the allegations were made in five affidavits — one by a learner, and four others by parents and staff members of the school.

Letters were reportedly written to the Gauteng Department of Education by parents and the school’s governing body about the allegations.

An anonymous letter was also reportedly sent to a law firm, where it was alleged that learners were being sexually harassed by teachers in exchange for marks.

It is believed that this law firm was appointed by the Gauteng Department of Education to investigate the claims, and that the allegations date as far back as 2011.

It was also revealed that the school’s governing body was disbanded last year, following claims of maladministration.

Comment is awaited from the Gauteng Department of Education.
