Elderly treated to special day

Along with donations from staff and customers, members of the public were also able to contribute some of these essential items.

Residents of the Red Cross Eventide Old Age Home enjoyed a day of pampering on Friday, last week.

In addition to having their hair and nails done by staff from Salon of Dreams, the senior citizens received donations of toiletries and other goodies from Jaguar Land Rover.

The donation formed part of the car company’s Hope Box campaign.

From June 1, 31 participating Jaguar Land Rover dealers each had a Land Rover Discovery Sport fitted with a Hope Box.

These bespoke containers were used to collect donations of non-perishable foodstuffs, toiletries, children’s toys, educational items, clothing and blankets.

Along with donations from staff and customers, members of the public were also able to contribute some of these essential items.

The campaign wrapped up at the end of July, and the collected items were handed over to the South African Red Cross Society for distribution to its key projects.

The day, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved, was organised by 24 Carrots Event Design.

Bringing happiness and hope to the local Red Cross are Lara Hattingh and Liaan Kretzschmar, from Jaguar Land Rover. Collen Huma is the manager of the Brakpan Red Cross.
Eventide Old Age Home resident Sina Strydom (92) was treated to a manicure by Simoné Els, from Salon of Dreams.
