The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (September 18 to 19):

Cases reported:

• Theft from motor vehicle: 2
• Theft: 5
• Attempted theft of motor vehicle: 1
• Malicious damage to property: 2
• Fraud: 1
• Common assault: 4
• Crimen injuria: 1
• Reckless driving: 3
• Assault GBH: 1
• Theft out of motor vehicle: 1
• Possession of suspected stolen property: 1
• Rape: 1

Arrests:

• Possession of stolen motor vehicle: 1
• Reckless driving: 1
• Rape: 1

Theft out of/from motor vehicle:

• A spare wheel was stolen from a bakkie.

The complainant told police he is not sure when or where it was stolen.

He last saw it on Friday and discovered it was missing on Sunday.

• A car parked at an address along Waterval Road, in Leachville, was broken into on Sunday.

A car battery and a bag were stolen.

The bag contained a purse with an ID book, driver’s licence, bank cards, medical aid card, cash and several sets of keys.

• A laptop was stolen from a car parked at the corner of 12th Road and 13th Road, in Maryvlei, on Saturday.

Attempted motor vehicle theft:

• An attempt was made to steal a blue Toyota Rav 4 parked along Stoffberg Avenue, on Saturday.

The vehicle’s ignition had been tampered with.

The incident took place between 9am and 12.50pm.
