The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (March 13 to 14):

Attempted hijacking:

• The female driver of a white Hyundai Tucson was confronted by two armed men when she arrived at an address along Davey Street in Minnebron last night (Tuesday).

The incident took place at about 7pm and the woman’s two children were in the car.

She was threatened with a gun and one of the men demanded her car keys.

The woman refused to hand over the keys until her children were out of the vehicle.

One of the men attempted to grab the keys from her and she started screaming for help.

The would-be hijackers fled in a white SUV.

• A Minnebron man sustained a cut to his hand during an altercation with a would-be hijacker along Pieter du Plessis Street in Minnebron last night.

Two men travelling in a silver Ford Fiesta pulled up behind the resident and his wife when they arrived home at about 8.50pm.

One of the men was armed with a gun and the other with a knife.

The couple was forced out of their vehicle, a maroon Renault Clio, and a struggle ensued between the resident and the knifeman.

The resident, who injured his hand trying to grab the knife, started screaming and the men ran back to their car and sped off.

Burglary:

• Boyd Avenue, Brenthurst.

The break-in took place on Monday.

Stolen: A TV, digital camera and other valuables.

• Samuel Street, Kenleaf.

The burglary occurred yesterday.

Stolen: A TV, liquor and other household items.

Theft out of/from motor vehicle:

• A vehicle parked at an address along Swanson Street in Brakpan North was broken into on Monday.

Tools, a cellphone and a GPS device were stolen.

• Tyres and rims were stolen from a car parked along Tinker Road in Brenthurst.
