The man accused of fatally wounding a man and injuring three others in a shooting in Brakpan in May was denied bail during his appearance in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Jaen-Lee Pyne (31) was arrested in connection with the shooting during a court appearance on November 18 in Heidelberg for a series of crimes he has been accused of committing in that area.
He first appeared in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court on November 20, where the case was postponed to December 2 for bail application. Bail was denied and Pyne remains in custody. The case was postponed to December 11.
As previously reported by the Brakpan Herald, a case of murder and three cases of attempted murder were under investigation following the shooting on May 4, which saw four men come under heavy fire.

Brakpan SAPS received a report of the shooting at the corner of Madeley Street and Hamilton Avenue just after 20:00 that evening.
Upon arrival, officers found a silver Toyota Yaris peppered with bullet holes with two wounded men inside. A man seated in the back sustained two gunshot wounds to the head, one to the back and another to the hand.
He was later declared dead on the scene. The other man was also shot in the head and was taken by ambulance to the Far East Rand Hospital.

The two other victims, whose injuries were not disclosed, were also taken to hospital. A firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash were found in the Yaris.
Pyne faces a list of charges in Heidelberg, including that of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and malicious damage to property.
Pyne is also the accused in another shooting, during which Heidelberg CPF members Etienne du Preez and Flip Minnaar were both shot in the head. Du Preez died and Minnaar was seriously injured.
Pyne faces another charge of murder, following the discovery of a body buried in the front garden of his former residence.
The body was exhumed by police on October 30 following a tip-off. The victim has been identified as Musa Gumede.
