SAPS, CPF, Gauteng Traffic Department hold high visibility operation

The stakeholders paraded at Pick n Pay Sherwood, in the parking lot beforehand.

Brakpan SAPS joined forces with the CPF, private security companies, and the Gauteng Traffic Department for a high visibility operation from July 26 into the early hours of July 27.

The operation was launched with a parade held in the parking lot of Pick n Pay Sherwood Gardens, led by Colonel Robert Makopo, SAPS Vispol commander, and CPF chairperson Tinus Jordaan.

The Brakpan CPF received additional support from CPF patrollers from Boksburg North, Plantation Boksburg, Benoni, and Actonville.

Ekurhuleni District’s Community in Blue Siyabangena patrollers also showed strong support with a large turnout.
Local private security firms – Secure Tech, CP Security, and Graphite Security – also participated in the parade, bolstering the operation’s force.

“The multi-disciplinary teams ensured full precinct coverage, with more boots on the ground and a strong law enforcement presence visible throughout town,” said Sector 1 manager and SAPS communications officer, Constable Audrey Buthelezi.

Makopo led a team from the Gauteng Traffic Department at a vehicle check point (VCP), which resulted in the arrest of five suspected drunk drivers and four individuals suspected of being in the country illegally.

Stakeholders were divided into four teams, with each assigned to a specific sector of the Brakpan area. High visibility patrols continued throughout the night, with visits to known hotspots and stop-and-searches of vehicles.

Makopo expressed his gratitude to all participants for their dedication and commended the CPF for extending invitations to neighbouring towns, further strengthening the operation.
