Murder suspects tracked and caught by Brakpan detectives

A fatal shooting in the Brakpan CBD and a separate murder in Mkhancwa led to arrests by dedicated local detectives.

Brakpan SAPS detectives have been praised for their commitment and teamwork after arresting suspects in two separate murder investigations.

On October 13, Sergeants Ntokozo Mlangeni and Tuka Gavade made an arrest in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in the Brakpan CBD.

The victim was gunned down on October 4 at the corner of Prince George Avenue and Voortrekker Road. The 35-year-old suspect was traced to the George Goch Hostel in Johannesburg and detained at the Brakpan Police Station.

According to Constable Audrey Buthelezi, Brakpan SAPS Sector 1 manager and communications officer, the 9mm firearm used in the commission of the crime, one magazine and nine live rounds were found on the suspect and were confiscated.

On October 10, Sergeants Ntokozo Mlangeni and Lindokuhle Gumede, and Warrant Officer Anton Strydom, with assistance from Secure Tech Security, traced and arrested a man in the Mkhancwa informal settlement for the murder of his girlfriend in August.

The detectives worked tirelessly, and with assistance from witnesses, apprehended the suspect. Brakpan SAPS Detectives Branch commander Colonel Eugene Scheepers welcomed the successes and appreciated the efforts of the members.

It was stated that the detectives have proven that through teamwork, anything is possible, and crime will never prevail.
