Hard work often happens quietly in the background, especially for those whose jobs keep workplaces running smoothly.

For Livhuwani David Mulaudzi, a handyman at the Brakpan Police Station, that dedication has now been recognised on the national stage.

Mulaudzi previously scooped the Ekurhuleni District Excellence Awards and later received provincial recognition for his hard work, dedication and professionalism.

At the prestigious SAPS national awards ceremony held in Bloemfontein in the Free State on January 26, Mulaudzi emerged as the overall winner in his category.

The event was attended by top police management, government officials and award recipients, with more than 350 top-performing SAPS members receiving national recognition for excellence in service.

Mulaudzi was awarded National Level Administration Employee of the Year: Level 2 – 4, marking a significant achievement in his career and a proud moment for Brakpan police.

He was accompanied to the ceremony by Brakpan SAPS Vispol commander Colonel Robert Makopo, who said he felt privileged to witness such an honour bestowed on a member who consistently delivers exceptional professional service.

Makopo highlighted that the work of handymen is often overlooked and underappreciated, despite the specialised skills, reliability and commitment they bring to the workplace.

He added that recognising their contributions goes a long way in valuing and uplifting essential support personnel.
