Brakpan crèches meet at Curro Helderwyk for athletics day
While there were no real prizes or stakes, the kids still had the opportunity to “win” a race or stand on the podium.
Curro Helderwyk was this year’s host of the annual athletics day, organised by a group of Brakpan’s crèches on February 28, ensuring a day of fun, light-hearted races with no real stakes or winners, and community.
Participating schools were Rafiki Pre-Primêr, Devon Hulpsentrum, Umpi Lumpi, Flip Flap, Brakanjan, Curro Helderwyk, Laatjies and Ladies, Trippe Trappe Trone and Dalpark Kleuters.
Each school had the opportunity to parade for the parents, each sporting their own theme, theme song, costumes in some cases and mascots.
After the parades, there was a performance by the Curro cheerleaders, and a segment where dads danced for a gift hamper.
Part of the festivities was the Brakpan SPCA, who set up a stall with several pet-related goodies on sale to raise funds for the local animal shelter.
