Brakpan SAPS bring community together for prayer

Local SAPS, stakeholder and community memberss gathered to pray for peace throughout the county, but specifically in Ekurhuleni following a wave of senseless violence.

Brakpan police hosted a prayer event with stakeholders and community members on October 2 with the intention of fostering a sense of unity and collaboration.

The event was held on the police station’s grounds and attended by SAPS members, pastors, and chaplains from different faith-based organisations, non-profit organisations, the Ekurhuleni Women’s Directorate office, and community members.

Brakpan SAPS social crime prevention and communications officer Constable Audrey Buthelezi steered the programme, which was opened with a prayer by Pastor Meisie Senong.

Buthelezi explained the purpose of the event and highlighted that it was to unite law enforcement, faith-based organisations, and the community in seeking divine intervention and collaborative support against crime.

She added the purpose of the prayer session was to foster partnerships, seek spiritual and emotional support, address social ills, and promote hope and unity.

Pastors, chaplains, and community members were granted time to provide ministry, praise, and worship, specifically focusing on the book of Ephesians 6:10-18, following the prayer theme of “Pray for the Armour of God over your life”.

“Brakpan SAPS stresses the vital role of spiritual guidance in addressing crime and social issues.

“These events demonstrate the spiritual backbone of the police and the importance of standing together before God,” said Buthelezi.

“The SAPS aims to bring together stakeholders and community members to collectively pray for a crime-free and peaceful environment.

“Although the prayer event was aimed at seeking God’s divine intervention in South Africa as a whole, special mentions and dedicated prayers went to the Ekurhuleni District, in note of the recent senseless deaths.”
