Eye on the metro: Council has no respect

Wouter Havenga, from Dalpark Extension Five, writes: In September, I reported a leak on my water meter to the council, and was told that it would take approximately five days for them to respond to my request.

Fortunately, it was not a major leak.

A few days later, when I returned home, I found my neighbour’s meter replaced with a new unit, and my paving damaged and in a severe mess.

There were paving bricks missing, with bits of pipe, seals and washers lying on the ground.

This is pathetic!

The residents in our area try to keep the outside of our properties as neat and well kept as the inside.

Why can the council not respect this, and try to maintain a good image of Brakpan?

Who is going to pay for the repair to my paving?

This is also not the first time.

My meter was replaced about a year ago, with the new type, and it was the same issue.

I had to get a contractor to repair my paving at my expense.

When I got home my driveway was so badly damaged that I could not even bring my vehicle into my property.

This is not acceptable; please have some respect for our property!
