I would like to congratulate them on this wonderful achievement.
I would also, however, like to bring to their attention the ignorance of taxi drivers on the streets of Brakpan.
It is especially problematic at the intersection of Gloucester Street and Glamorgan Street (west).
These drivers do whatever they want, with total disregard for the law.
This very afternoon a taxi drove into the above intersection over the white line of the stop sign, without even blinking.
Coming from the south side of Gloucester Street I find that the taxis block the slipway from Gloucester Street.
Then you must wait until they decide it’s time to go!
When you reprimand them, they laugh in your face!
Should I take the law into my own hands (I would face severe charges)?
My question to the Metro Police: are the traffic regulations there only for the public?
Is the taxi industry exempt?
And, do you only concentrate on speedsters?
Wherever I drive I see exactly the same problem, and it seems to me there are never Metro Police around doing what they should be doing – patrolling.
Instead, I see the vehicles driving around, the officers bored stiff, or doing shopping at the mall.
Take a drive to Johannesburg and you’ll see their traffic police on all the roads.
Perhaps our own Metro Police can get some tips from them.
It’s not just about speeding.
