Eye on the metro: One rotten apple spoils the barrel

Patrick Pule from Leachville Extension One writes: I recently took my wife to the Brakpan Clinic for her monthly visit and want to commend the hard-working personnel, from the clerk at reception to the medical personnel.

My wife got her file almost immediately, even though she did not have her treatment card, and then she went to queue to have her blood pressure taken.

The queue went very fast and within half an hour the process was completed.

So far so good!

She then had to queue to see someone (whom I shall call Her Majesty) in another consulting room to collect her medication, which was the last thing to do to before going home.

There was an elderly lady in with Her Majesty.

The lady had been inside with her for more than an hour and this was the only queue that was not moving.

At this point I was very frustrated and decided to go outside to calm myself.

Her Majesty came past me at a leisurely pace towards her car in the car park, while texting on her mobile phone.

I went back inside to check the progress, only to find that the poor old lady was yet to be helped and the queue still stagnant.

My wife asked the elderly lady in the consulting room what the hold-up was and she was told that Her Majesty was just sitting there and texting on her mobile all this time.

During all this time her hard=working colleagues were showing concern by asking if we were getting any help.

I went back outside and saw Her Royal Highness huffing and puffing on the steps towards the entrance.

Finally an elderly sister took people from Her Majesty’s queue, including my wife, and she was given her medication in less than five minutes.

The poor old lady was still in her Royal Highness’s consulting room when we left the clinic.

I am not sure whether this woman was heavily hung over or if she was just showing contempt to the public she is supposed to serve.

Her behaviour is disgusting, to say the least.

Somebody needs to rein her in urgently, as she is one bad apple giving a bad name to the wonderful people working there.
