Council should issue a public apology

J L van Schalkwyk writes by email: I refer to the article ''Maintenance to cause power outage'' (Herald, September 12) and the same information published on the Ekurhuleni website:

Due to the above notification, I rented a generator and bought petrol for the day totaling R700.

To my surprise, on Monday, September 15, Crocodile Street, which was to be without power, had no maintenance done.

As a result I wasted the money.

I realise that the Ekurhuleni council will not refund me the money I spent, they will find any excuse to justify the fact that they failed to deliver on the scheduled services they were supposed to provide.

I do, however, think it only fitting that a public apology be issued to all residents in Sallies Village for the poor service and misleading information provided by the council.
