Electricity and water supplies are erratic and unreliable, costing my business a substantial amount to run a generator.
Due to the postal strike, no accounts are sent out, however, trying to get through to the accounts department is fruitless.
The phones either ring off the hook or simply get answered and the phone put down again.
In the absence of an accurate account, we have been paying an average amount, however as there was a minor difference between what we paid and the apparent actual amount (we have still not got the account to show us the correct amount), we received a “final notice” for a mere R800, with a penalty of nearly R100, exactly one day after the due date.
What I would now like to ask is: how is it that a tenant in one of my properties can run up a bill of over R10 000 outstanding for three months without any action from the municipality?
The “final notice” is hand-delivered to my company.
If they can hand-deliver this, why can they not hand-deliver the account?
I object most strongly to paying a penalty for other people’s incompetence.
