You need to produce proof of residence when renewing your car licence

The licensing department is confirming all addresses.

Elise Havenga writes by email:

The licensing department is confirming all addresses, but only informs people once they arrive at the office that this is why no prior notification is received.

At the licensing department, there are two forms to be completed.

The green one is for licence renewal and the white one is for your address (to where the renewal will be posted to).

Take along your ID book, copy of your ID, proof of residence (not older than three months) and the vehicle information.

Editor’s note: The new regulations for the renewal of licences came into effect in November, last year.

Any person, company or organisation is required to submit proof of full names, identity or business number, and residential and postal address before any registering authority can issue a motor vehicle licence disc.
