Losing streak continues

The recent bad run of defeats for Dalpark Football Club (DFC), in the Benoni South League Football Association (BSFLA) Division One, continued on Saturday, October 26, when the team took on Tent Town Hawks in Actonville.

Dalpark suffered some setbacks, with a few players missing the game and forcing team coach Ebrahim Fray to don the goalkeeper’s gloves and take up a position between the goalposts.

The first half started brightly for DFC, as they took a 2-0 lead, but, before the halftime break, the Hawks pounced and managed to find two goals and equalise.

DFC fought hard in the second period, but missed crucial chances.

Hawks scored another, to take the score to 3-2 and force the DFC players to press forward.

The space left by the pressing DFC players allowed Hawks to counter-attack and put the final nail in the DFC coffin, with the score at 4-2, in the dying minutes of the game.

Fray commented after the match: “It was a difficult game for us, but I believe that we played quite well considering the circumstances.

“We have completed the registration of three new players with BSLFA — a young goalkeeper, striker and midfielder — who, we hope, will rejuvenate the side going forward and make the difference that we need.”
