
Week seven of the Brakpan Pigeon Club’s season saw the club’s birds fly from Smithfield, 475km away.
The young birds were liberated at 7.30am and it was Hennie Botha who timed the first bird at 12.26;38pm with a winning speed of 1 601.791 metres per minute (mpm).
David Pretorius placed second, with a speed of 1 599.746mpm and Piet Grobler placed third, with a speed of 1 580.582mpm.
The open birds were liberated at 8.15am and Mark Viljoen (first place) timed at 1.08;10pm, with a speed of 1 599.493mpm.
Hennie Botha came in, in second place, with a speed of 1 596.229mpm and, in third place, it was Viljoen again, with a speed of 1 586.471.
This week’s race point will be at Springfontein, 507km away.
