Brakpan warriors win 16 medals

In one of the biggest kickboxing events in South Africa, The Great North 1 tournament held in Pretoria on Saturday, March 14.

The event attracted more than 300 fighters from mostly Gauteng as well as Limpopo, Mpumulanga and the Free State.

The fighters from the Brakpan Xtreme Kickboxing Technologies (XKT) branch brought back a total of 16 medals (six gold, six silver and four bronze medals).

The tournament is also good preparation for the South African National Kickboxing Championships that will take place in Cape Town this year.

“XKT has over 12 branches in South Africa and we are waiting for the final results to come in on the total medal-haul won by XKT with this unique style,” said Raymond Phillips, XKT president.

“At last count there was over 70 medals won for XKT branches.”

He added that he was extremely proud of the XKT.
