Turkish Airlines delight for Royal Oak

Club managed to secure top honours in the tournament.

A team of four golfers from Royal Oak Country Club is basking in the success of winning the recent Turkish Airlines Interclub Challenge Pro-Am, a regional golf competition between all the golf clubs in the Ekurhuleni region, at Royal Oak.

Their achievement was made even more special by the mere fact that the club managed to secure top honours in the tournament for a second year running by defending their title.

After winning the competition at Reading Country Club in March last year Royal Oak earned the right to host the 2016 version of the competition at its course.

Home ground advantage certainly played a big role as the Royal Oak four-ball team of Kenneth Dube (professional) and amateurs Chris Ross, Koen Myburgh and David Denoroonah, who marched to victory in the four-ball alliance (two scores to count) format with a total score of 88 ahead of Pollak Park.

“It is simply fantastic for the club,” said Dube.

“I am proud of the guys for managing to defend our trophy.

“They played extremely good golf and now, hopefully, we can keep the winning momentum going at the club.”

Dube issued a stern warning to other clubs who are aiming to lay their hands on the title in 2017.

“They must come try and take the trophy from us next year.

“We will be waiting for them.”
