A good win for United

United Cricket Club skipper Justin Gamble lauded his bowlers and batters for their consistent performance, following the side's win in the Premier XI encounter against Actonville Spurs Cricket Club, on Sunday.

Spurs skipper Michael Enslin won the toss at Lord’s Cricket Grounds and elected to bat.

The men from Actonville racked up 142 in 46 overs before they were bowled out – but lost by five wickets.

United’s Aidan Justus was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 5/26 in 10 overs.

Tshepo Motaung picked up 3/25 in 8 overs.

“It was a good win for us; we needed to win to stay in the running for the play-offs,” said Gamble.

He praised JP Meade for another good knock and bowlers Justus and Motaung for their five and three wickets, respectively.

United will hope to beat CBC this weekend (venue still to be confirmed) and will hold thumbs that Benoni Northerns Cricket Club’s beats Alberton in their Sunday clash to give them a glimmer of hope for a spot in the play-offs.
