Carnival to become drifter’s haven
Southern Africa’s top drifters will descend on Brakpan for a high horsepower, tyre-smoking weekend like no other.
Carnival City plays host to the sixth upcoming round of the SupaDrift National Series on September 28 and 29.
The final round of SupaDrift (Motorsport South Africa’s national drift series) will be one for the books.
Over 2 000 petrol heads will be treated to two days of world-class competitive drifting as 25 professional drivers compete for the top spot and the championship title.

Drivers from as far as far as Cape Town and Mozambique will gather at Carnival City from, and will be fired up in their fully customised, high-powered drift machines and will be ready to scar the tar on Friday morning for official practice.
Drivers will also fine-tune their drift skills and machines on Saturday morning to a perfect song before qualifiers kick-off at 1pm.

The 2018 national championship has been one of the most anticipated contests in its nine-year history, and promoters XS Promotions have promised it to be a ‘sensory overload, insane’ event.
Drivers such as two-time national champion Jason Webb, have stepped onto the top spot on the podium four out of five times this season and certainly, Webb entertains whenever he puts his Roush Performance ‘Monstang’ to the ultimate test.
Gavin Puren, in the runner-up position in the current 2018 standings, who hails from Port Shepstone, said that he too understands the task at hand, but will make it count and has opened up the dialogue in unexpected form on social media with perpetuating challenges to all drivers.
The event also stages the Riaz Alibhai Cup – a trophy given to the winner of the day’s event in memory of a once talented and fierce competitor.
Riaz and his nephew Aqil died in a tragic accident in 2015.
Tickets can be bought at the gate.
Gates open two hours before the start of the show which starts at noon to 6pm on Friday and 10am to 6pm on Saturday.
