Mixed bag of results for United

The match has been rescheduled for February 3.

United Cricket Club’s Premier XI’s scheduled Eastern Premier League match against Springs Old Boys on January 20 was postponed after the sewerage problems that have plagued Hosking Park over the years made an unwelcome return.

The club’s Premier Reserve League side, however, enjoyed a close victory over Springs Old Boys when they met at Pollak Park in Springs on Sunday.

United were bowled all out for 138 runs in 36.1 overs with Shaun Fourie top-scoring with 42 runs followed by Anthony Kruger with 35 runs.

Fourie’s all-round ability was showcased when he bowled a match-changing 5/28 in seven overs as Springs fell agonisingly close, losing by three runs in the end.

In the Director’s League, a low-scoring affair resulted in a tied match between United and Elsburg.

Both teams were bowled out for a mere 68 runs to force a tied result.
