Matsane wants to give back

He is looking at starting a club in Brakpan.

Sport has helped Brakpan’s Jason Matsane progress in his life.

The local man spent his teenage years playing water polo against the top players in the country.

“I started playing at the age of 11 and was trained by William Templeton,” he said.

Performances in the water saw him earn a scholarship to Jeppe Boys High School where he also managed to represent Eastern Gauteng and Central Gauteng later on.

Now, he is looking to give back to youngsters at the Brakpan Swimming Pool.

“This is where I started,” said Matsane.

He is looking at starting a club in Brakpan, which he will be coaching, and has already water polo goals donated to him from St Dominique’s School.

“I want to start the club as a development project and then by February (2020) be competitive,” said the local man.

Matsane says that he dreams of helping youngsters earn scholarships to top schools in the same way he earned his.
