Phakama Private Game Lodge is situated only 55km north of Pretoria by tar road, via the N1, and offers exclusivity, style and luxury within the natural splendour and peaceful ambience of the African bush, within the Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve.
Set in the breathtaking Pride of Africa Private Nature Reserve, a malaria-free area, the property is 111.7ha, with traversing rights of 2 631ha within Pride of Africa and 3 451ha throughout the Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve (excluding tar roads). The reserve is comprised of typical bushveld, with more than 800 head of game roaming the reserve and a magnificent variety of animals, trees and birds.
Phakama is a unique weekend break-away for corporate executives or family and friends. Phakama Private Game Lodge offers two separate adjoining but private lodges, Baobab Lodge and Marula Lodge.
Before the establishment of the Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve, six owners, of which one is Phakama Private Game Lodge, decided to establish a nature reserve called Pride of Africa. All participating owners entered into a participation agreement between Pride of Africa Land owners Association, which allows Phakama Private Game Lodge traversing rights on 2 631ha within Pride of Africa Nature Reserve. It is important to note the agreement also makes provision for development rights on the participating properties to prevent any overcrowding of the properties.
After the establishment of Pride of Africa, Phakama Private Game Lodge entered into a Dinokeng land incorporation agreement in terms of which it participates as a land owner in the Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve.
The first phase of the reserve, a mere 20 000ha in extent, was successfully implemented in 2010. The traversing rights that Phakam Private Game Lodge has secured in the Dinokeng Big 5 Nature reserve is 3 451ha (which excludes any public roads).
