Armed robber quickly apprehended

This resident had a harrowing experience while most of his neighbours were asleep.

The Carletonville police arrested an armed robber the day after he struck last week.

A Blyvoor resident was on his way home on 26 April.

As he walked past the old Cherry Lodge at about 23:30, a man approached him and pulled out a firearm.

“Give me your money,” he demanded.

Although the victim (40) denied having any money with him, the robber proceeded to search him. He took all the man’s money and his cell phone and ran away.

Luckily, the victim recognised the robber’s voice and could tell the police who he was.

They arrested the 32-year-old suspect the following day and charged him with armed robbery.
