A strong partnership between the Fochville Community Policing Forum (CPF), the SAPS and CPI Security led to the successful execution of Operation Shanela in and around Fochville last week.

According to the Fochville CPF’s spokesperson, Damian Wichtmann, the operation brought together law enforcement officers, CPF members, private security personnel and several government stakeholders with the shared goal of preventing crime, increasing visibility and improving public safety.

Teams conducted high-visibility patrols, vehicle checkpoints and various crime prevention activities throughout the area.

SAPS units from the West Rand District, Hekpoort, Krugersdorp, Randfontein, Westonaria, Bekkersdal, Carletonville and Wedela all participated in the operation.

The Department of Home Affairs also took part, arresting illegal immigrants, while the Traffic Department issued fines for various traffic law infringements. Several suspects were also arrested for the possession of illegal firearms, drugs and other offences.

By working together and sharing resources, the participating agencies strengthened crime prevention efforts and reassured residents through an increased law enforcement presence.

The organisers thanked all participating stakeholders for their professionalism, commitment and willingness to work together in the interest of community safety.

Residents were encouraged to continue reporting suspicious activities and to support future crime prevention initiatives.

“The success of the operation highlights the importance of partnerships in the fight against crime,” said Wichtmann.
