Blyvoor resident shot dead during armed robbery

Armed robbers stormed a Blyvoor property in the early hours of Monday morning, stealing valuables before fatally shooting a 35-year-old resident.

Blyvoor is no stranger to violent crime, and the past week was no exception.

A North Avenue resident stepped outside his home to collect water at about 04:00 on August 3 when he was approached by two Sesotho-speaking men. Brandishing firearms, the pair forced him back into his room, ransacked the space, and stole several valuables before targeting the next room.

Shortly after the thugs left, the first victim heard two gunshots followed by the sound of the attackers fleeing.

He rushed to the room of his neighbour (35) where he discovered that the neighbour had been shot in the lower back. He died at the scene.
