Various government departments and structures joined forces during a special community outreach in Wedela this week to bring vital public services directly to residents.

On August 28 at around 09:00, the local health department hosted a Siyaphilisa event, which means “We heal”.

The campaign aimed to ensure residents of the area are fully aware of the government services available to them. The well-attended outreach brought together local health officials alongside officers from the Wedela police, environmental health services, Westrand district health rehabilitation services, a dietician, and Westrand district health promoters.

Child protection agencies, SASSA, the Department of Home Affairs, SAPS Forensic Services, emergency services, the Babuyile mobile clinic, and radiography services were also present to assist the community.

Gauteng MEC for Health Faith Mazibuko addressed the gathered residents and walked from house to house to engage directly with families and listen to their concerns.
