Khutsong author releases new book

This talented author also wrote about her own near-death experience.

Boitumelo Sindi, a local author from Khutsong, has recently released her debut memoir titled Don’t Follow, which chronicles her personal life experiences from birth through to her career and a near-death experience.

Her writing journey began back in 2008 when she was in Grade 10 at high school, where she originally handwritten two books called Freaky Stories.

She shared them with her classmates, who were captivated by the plots and encouraged her belief that she could become a published author.

After finishing high school, her writing ambitions were temporarily halted due to challenges faced during her higher education and career years.

However, her passion was re-ignited around 2018 when she began working on a new manuscript, drawing renewed strength from fellow local author Quan Rabotapi, who successfully published his book Get What You Want.

Further inspiration struck when she attended an event featuring the late Wedela author Takalane Mokgatle, who spoke about her own life memoir and reinforced Boitumelo’s confidence that she was heading in the right direction.

Although traditional publishing houses proved too expensive, Boitumelo eventually found an opportunity to publish through a local company that supports upcoming authors with self-publishing. Her newly released book delves deeply into her upbringing, family members, school and tertiary days, friendships, and personal challenges.

Readers and supporters wishing to connect with the author or obtain a copy of the book can contact her directly on 076 203 4735.
