Robbers shoot woman and son (15) in Khutsong Ext 5

Both were rushed to hospital.

Carletonville Police are investigating cases of attempted murder following a violent home invasion in Khutsong Ext 5 earlier this week.

A female resident (36) was asleep in her house during the early hours of September 2 when she was woken at 02:10 by a disturbance at her security door. When she opened the main door to investigate, she came face to face with an armed criminal.

The brave mother immediately began fighting with the intruder and shouted for her son (15) to come to her aid.

A second masked accomplice then appeared and shot the woman in both of her legs.

Both attackers spoke Sesotho during the incident.

Despite her injuries, the resilient mother and her son chased after the fleeing criminals. During the pursuit, one of the armed thugs turned and shot the teenager twice in the stomach. Other community members quickly rushed to the family’s assistance and transported both victims to Fountain Private Hospital.

By the time of going to print, the mother had been discharged from the hospital, but her son remained admitted, receiving medical treatment.
