Man shot in Anthracite Street

A resident of Anthracite Street was shot and wounded in his home in Carletonville during the week.

According to the police in Carletonville, the man awoke at around 02:00 on 4 May. He opened his eyes to see an African man pointing a firearm at him. He later realised that an accomplice was standing in the passage.
The Sotho-speaking suspect immediately demanded money. When the victim denied having any, the burglar ransacked the house and found R300 at the fireplace. He also wanted a Hisense cell phone, worth about R1 000. The man refused to hand it over, however, and the robber shot him in the right arm. The victim lost consciousness and found himself in hospital when he came around.
