What to expect on Generations: The Legacy tonight – an insider look

The opening scenes of the first episode of Generations: The Legacy start with old favourites Karabo Moroka and Tau Mogale walking hand in hand.

Moroka played by Connie Ferguson and Mogale played by Rapulana Seiphumo are a couple that fans will immediately identify with. In the new storyline they have children and will be grooming them to take over their media empire in the near future.

Earlier today at a media screening of the first episode in Bryanston, executive producer, Mfundi Vundla said making these two integral to the “DNA of the show” would help in developing the legacy aspect of the show.

There are a score of new actors and characters fans can look forward to seeing such as Manaka Ranaka who plays hard core Lucy, Letoya Makhene who plays Tshidi and Musa Ngema who plays bad boy Mazwi.

New look Generations to air tonight

The first episode takes viewers to the unveiling of a tombstone hosted by the Moraka’s, where audiences are introduced to the hunky Vuyo Dabula, playing Gaddifi, who looks like he will be Mogale’s nemesis as the show goes on.

Throughout the episode this scene is contrasted with that of a spaza shop where a new family from more humble beginnings is shown. It is suggested from very early on that they have a link to the Moroka’s that may change their lives.

The new title sequence, the music of which was composed by Jonas Gwangwa, is fresh and speaks to the new direction the show is taking. The title sequence itself is also quite different and has a modern, business like feel.

The entire show had to be rewritten in just two months following the wage disputes that saw 16 principal actors fired from the show in August. Eventually SABC 1 ran out of episodes and had to replace the 8pm timeslot with Sepedi drama, Skeem Saam for some time.

Tune in at 8pm on SABC 1 to watch the very first episode.
