Generations: The Legacy to axe actors

The new Generations: The Legacy is apparently axing actors after their contracts were not renewed.

CONFIRMED: ‘Generations The Legacy’ sacks two actors

In a report by the Times Live, several actors’ contracts were apparently not renewed because “they were not adding value to the soapie anymore”.

Denise Zimba, who plays role of Mary, is one of the actors who have been shown the door. Asanda Foji, who plays Simphiwe, Smanga Moroka’s wife, along with the newcomer Lebogang Mthunzi, who joined the soapie as Angela Moroka are also said to be leaving the show.

These however, are not the only actors who have been shown the door from Mzansi’s most loved show, the official statement will be posted on the Generations: The Legacy website.

This follows reports that the five-month-old Uzalo had booted Generations off its pedestal as the most watched show on SABC 1 – for the first time in more than 20 years.

Vundla went on to accuse the producers of Uzalo of ‘sabotaging’ his soapie and ‘stealing’ its story lines.

This is not the first time Vundla has axed actors, last year in August Vundla axed 16 actors from Generations after the apparently went on an illegal strike.

The actors were demanding three year contracts and felt that the intensity of their work schedule means they were not able to do other work to supplement their income.
