Brave royal redhead in SA

Britain's Prince Harry arrived in South Africa on Sunday and will remain in the country until Tuesday, when he will set off for the South Pole.


The royal is making a gruelling trek to planet earth’s southernmost tip, this alongside British actor Dominic West, who plays Detective Jimmy McNulty in ‘The Wire’, and Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård, known for his role as vampire Eric Northman in ‘True Blood’.

Each a member of three competing teams comprised of four wounded military personal, the ‘Walking With the Wounded: South Pole Allied Challenge’ is a 335km race for charity that’s expected to take 16 days.

The teams will depart Cape Town on Tuesday, when they will fly to the air base at Russia’s Novolazarevskaya Station at the edge of the Antarctic continent.

All the competitors have gone through extensive training, from cold weather training in Iceland, to team training through the summer, to a final snow preparation in October.

The teams aim to reach the South Pole around 17 December 2013, with all funds raised going to the Walking With the Wounded charity.
