Ike Tladi out on the curb

Well-known producer and music compiler Ike Tladi has fallen on hard times.

Tladi, who worked with various South African radio stations, most notably as music compiler for Kaya FM, was kicked to the curb when his house was recently sold on auction.

According to the Daily Sun, Tladi was kicked out of his residence by a housing agent called Brett Kebble.

Tladi claims that Kebble sent someone to clean out his house while he was away in Botswana for a funeral and in the process his lifetime collection of music went missing.

“My music collection of over 30 years alone was worth more than R1 million and it is missing. My furniture and clothes are also missing,” Tladi told the publication.

“These guys have been offering me money to move out. They promised to give me R35 000 to move out. After signing the agreement, they fraudulently changed the figures to R13 500 and forged my signature.”

Tladi further claims that Kebble told him to stay in the house as he struggled to find a buyer, but that he “failed to follow auction procedures when he couldn’t pay the money within the prescribed time”.

“When the house was taken back on auction, he contested and wanted to rush things,” he added.

Kebble has, however, rubbished Tladi’s claims. According to his version of events, Tladi ignored various eviction orders and owes him more than R140 000 in rent.

He further asserts that he actually paid Tladi R7 500 to move out so the new owners could move in. He also claims that Tladi moved his “missing” belongings to a storage facility himself and that he threatened to shoot him.

Aside from his radio work, Tladi is also known for his compilation album called ‘Ike’s Jammin Grooves: Funky House Hits from the Old Skool’.
