Jada Pinkett Smith battled addiction

Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed she battled addiction when she was younger because she struggled to deal with her 'life issues'.

Jada Pinkett Smith once battled with addiction. The 42-year-old actress, who has a son, Jaden, 15, and daughter Willow, 12, with her husband Will Smith, has revealed she developed a problem and began relying on ”many addictions, of several kinds” to help her deal with her emotional issues when she was younger.

The ‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted’ star opened up about her past struggles in a new post on her Facebook page to celebrate her birthday on September 18, writing: ”What I learned about myself is this, when I was younger

I was not a good problem solver, meaning I had a very difficult time with dealing with my problems in life.

”I had many addictions, of several kinds, to deal with my life issues, but today, at 42, I have my wisdom, my heart and my conscience as the only tools to overcome life’s inevitable obstacles. I have become a good problem solver with those tools, and I am damn proud.”

Jada did not say whether she was addicted to alcohol or drugs but she said she is now strong enough to overcome her problems.

She added: ”What I hope is that we all continue to gain healthy understanding that life is really about solving problems, and also about us learning to become masters at solving them.”
