Local celebs head to Cape Town for Xmas

Cape Town will be the destination of choice for local celebrities this festive season with a number of stars confirming that they will be descending on the Mother City for Christmas.

Amongst those who will spend the 25th in Cape Town are Idols judge and DJ Unathi Msengana, singer Danny K, actress Terry Pheto and director Leon Schuster.

Speaking to The Sunday Times Schuster said he would be taking time off from promoting his latest blockbuster, Schuks! Your Country Needs You, to spend time with his family.

“I have a little apartment in Gordon’s Bay where I will be spending my time with my mother, who is 92, and my 24-year-old son.”

Johannesburg based Msengana has similar plans to Schuster although she intends driving to Cape Town with her family via the Garden Route. “When you have children you have to start being a bit more creative on where you go for holidays and Cape Town is perfect,” she said.

Both Danny K and Pheto, who stars in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, said they would be very busy working over the festive season, but both admitted they would find time in their schedules to spend time with family and friends in Cape Town.

“Christmas day will be spent with family like every year,” said Pheto, “But I will also be joining my friends in Cape Town after Christmas,” she said.

Danny K expressed a similar sentiment saying that while he would be very busy promoting his new album that he would nevertheless take some time out to be with family in The Mother City.
