L’vovo is still alive – Record label dispels ‘hurtful rumours’

L'vovo Derrango's record confirmed he suffered a minor stroke and doing better. However, this didn't stop the fake death reports.

Just a day after the surprising passing of Big Nuz member Mampintsha, news broke that a fellow musician L’vovo Derrango also suffered a minor stroke.

However after a statement confirmed that L’vovo was being treated in the hospital and doing well, this didn’t stop reports claiming he had passed away.

L’vovo is still alive

An update was released later on Christmas Day from his record label Derrango Records.

“This notification serves to dispel the trending rumours that he has passed. This is untrue and grossly hurtful to his family. He is still hospitalised and making excellent progress.

The record label asked the public and media to stop spreading “hurtful rumours” and asked for privacy for L’vovo and his family.

Earlier on Sunday, Derrango Records said L’vovo was recovering after suffering a minor stroke during a performance in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

“Lvovo Derrango suffered a minor stroke during his performance at Ndwedwe on [Friday]. He is admitted [to] the hospital for medical attention and he is responding very well.

“We kindly ask that you keep him in your prayers and we’re confident that he will come out of this difficult situation stronger,” the statement read.

Celebrities reaction

Many musicians such as Zakes Bantwini and Prince Kaybee shared their thoughts and prayers for L’vovo.

Prince Kaybee tweeted: “Speedy recovery to Mr Lvovo, it has indeed been one hell of a year.”

Accident

L’vovo’s hospitalisation follows an accident in May this year that almost took his life.

He was driving his VW Polo 7 coming from seeing his family at home in Newcastle when an oncoming truck lost control.

According to Drum Magazine, the musician had a hip replacement operation after the accident

“I had dislocated my hip. I couldn’t walk [because] the hip was moved, and they had to replace it. I had an injury to my right knee and a knot on my left. I have bruises on my face and the airbags hit me on the ribs, causing injuries,” he says.

He was reportedly discharged on 2 June to recover at home.
