Zodwa Wabantu wants to meet Robert Mugabe

The dancer is in Zimbabwe, and would like to meet the country's president, though some have warned her it might be tricky.

Durban socialite Zodwa Wabantu has expressed interest in meeting Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe.

She is currently in Zimbabwe after being invited by a Zimbabwean socialite who reportedly paid R32 500 for him and his friends to share exclusive space with Zodwa at Club Connect, Daily Sun has reported.

The dancer told the tabloid she was not sure if she should go to Zimbabwe at first after a warning from fans about the country and its strict rules.

“They were telling me that Mugabe does not allow nonsense, and as a result I would not be allowed into Zimbabwe because I am too sexy. Some feel I will be half-naked and that he [Mugabe] knows that I don’t wear panties‚” she told the tabloid.

But things went quite well for her after receiving a warm welcome, and said she would love to meet Mugabe.

Zodwa Wabantu is also interested in being an actor and would love to be on Generations: The Legacy, she revealed in a recent interview with DJ Fresh and Somizi Mhlongo on the Fresh Breakfast.

When asked if she had appeared on Generations, Zodwa said no, but said she was very much interested in joining the cast.

“I hope I’m getting there,” she said.

Though she had been criticised for her revealing clothes and dancing, Zodwa Wabantu said she coped well with the negativity. She said following comments from people that she had chicken thighs, she was now body-conscious and would start going to gym.

“I’m an outcast, I don’t want to be inside – I’m not a celebrity. I’m still living the exact life that I wanted. Now I’m body-conscious, just that I travel a lot, but I’m gonna start going to the gym. I’m gonna be a bomb,” she said.
