The ‘Superman vs Batman’ film will be shot in Detroit.

The ‘Man of Steel’ sequel has been confirmed to be set in Detroit, Michigan, with the city standing in for the fictional comic book cities of Metropolis and Gotham City when filming on the production starts early next year.

In a statement released by the Michigan Film Office, Snyder said: “Detroit and the entire state of Michigan have been fantastic collaborators, and we are looking forward to working together on this film.

“Detroit is a great example of a quintessential American city, and I know it will make the perfect backdrop for our movie.”

Ben Affleck has been cast as Batman opposite the returning Henry Cavill as Superman.

Zack Snyder will return to direct the sequel – which still has no official title – while ‘Man of Steel’ stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will all reprise their roles from the first movie.

Christopher Nolan – famed for his work on ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy – will be returning as an executive producer.

Although details of the plot are not yet known the movie will see the two biggest DC Comics characters face off for the first time on the big screen.
