WATCH: Somizi offers to pay first-year varsity fees for four matriculants

By Thabang Buthelezi

Popular radio and TV personality Somizi Mhlongo has announced on Instagram that he wants to help up to four matriculants pay their first-year varsity fees.

“With my book almost reaching 10 000 units, I spoke to my management, and I want to donate R20 from each book,” he said in the video.

He said he was planning on raising a minimum of R200 000, which would go towards the fees of two to four matriculants from disadvantaged backgrounds.

He has asked candidates to send their final-year marks to info@matuka.co.za, his management team.

“Changing South Africa one person at a time. Thanks to all that are supporting my dreams because through you I’m able to support other people’s dreams #DOMINOES about to go gold,” he wrote on his Instagram post.

Other celebrities who have previously helped financially disadvantaged students include Bonang Matheba, DJ Fresh, Mo Flava and AKA.
