Mouthwatering food for all
Enjoy an evening of fine dining at Aurelia's.

If you are interested in fine dining, then Aurelia’s is the place for you to go.
Aurelia’s is situated at the Doreale Grande Hotel at Emperors Palace and three friends and I recently had the opportunity to sample the new dinner menu.
As soon as you walk into the restaurant you are wrapped in a feeling of comfort and serenity.
You know you wont have to rush over your meal and that you can relax and enjoy all the different tastes presented to you.
My friends and I lingered over the menu, scrutinising each and every item.
There are so many different things to choose from, most of which we had not tasted before.
Eventually we settled on our entrées.
I chose the forest mushroom ragout al bruschetta mushrooms sautéed with scallions, double thick cream and garlic, topped with shaved pecorino and rocket leaves and drizzled with olive oil.
It was totally divine and I could have eaten it for a main course, as well.
Two of my companions opted for the seafood minestrone soup, which was described as comfort soup with seafood quenelles and risone pasta, and my third companion chose the smoked Scottish salmon, which comes with onion, caper and gherkin relish, horseradish jelly cubes, micro greens, rye melba toast and lime cheek.
The dishes were pronounced extremely suitable and delicious.
While we were waiting for our entrées, my companions were presented with a crumbed frogs leg to taste, while I received an avocado dish (as I am vegetarian).
There was, at first, disbelief at the thought of eating a frogs leg but all three did and said that it was not as bad as they thought it would be, in fact it was quite tasty.
Once our starters were out of the way, we chose our main course.
There is not a great choice on the menu for a vegetarian, so I decided to go with the porchini mushroom risotto, having never had something like this before.
It was quite nice, although I found the parmesan cheese rather strong and overpowering.
My companions went with stuffed chicken breast, Karoo lamb shank and pork fillet, all served with a selection of garden vegetables.
They told me that the meals were very tasty and they would definitely order them again.
Then it was dessert time a much-loved favourite of some of us around the table.
I opted for the vanilla pod brûlee with pistachio nut ice-cream and petit chocolate sauce, while the others had the South African cheese board, baked lemon cheese cake and traditional Cape Malay malva pudding.
All the desserts were delectable creations and it was almost sad to destroy them and put them in our mouths but we did and they were delicious.
The evening at Aurelia’s was relaxing and interesting and the service was impeccable.
The new menu for non-vegetarian diners offers a good variety of choice and if what we had was anything to go by I am sure the food is mouthwatering.
If you want to spend an enjoyable evening sampling fine dining at its best then make sure you visit Aurelia’s.
