The GCN were called the scene of an overturned truck, this morning (June 23).
The truck, which appeared to be transporting scrap metal, overturned on Barbara Road, in the Woodmere area.
The GCN was able to reach the EMPD for comment.
Thabiso Makgato, responding on behalf Wilfred Kgasago, spokesman for the EMPD, told the GCN: “The driver of the truck suffered serious injuries to the head and chest, and was taken to Union Hospital for treatment.
“The accident is confirmed to have happened at 10.45am this morning.
“EMPD officers are still on the scene and Barbara Road is still closed to traffic.
“A full investigation has been launched into the cause of the accident.”
