Book brings hope for children with life-threatening illnesses

Inspiring new book a beacon of hope for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Believing in the power of dreams shines light, hope and strength in the darkness, especially during times of hardship.

This is the inspiring message behind a new partnership between Old Mutual Insure and Reach for a Dream, which is encouraging all South Africans to believe in the power of dreams.

“We are excited to be part of this partnership, given that the last 18 months have not been easy for many people and communities in South Africa,” said Antonia Oakes, retail executive of customer experience and responsible business at Old Mutual Insure.

“At a time when optimism is required more than anything, we believe in the transformative power of dreams to inspire real change. The project will see a stunning new coffee table book, In Good Company, go on sale with the proceeds of which will be used to support children with life-threatening illnesses.”

It will enable Reach for a Dream to build a Dream Room for children at Lambano Sanctuary, a children’s hospice in Germiston.

The book, a brainchild of creative alchemist Marc Gregory, celebrates South African culture by telling the unique stories of 32 well-known South Africans who have achieved extraordinary greatness in a visually appealing way.

To date, the Reach for a Dream Foundation has opened 19 Dream Rooms in various hospitals around the country.

“People throughout the world are going through a tough time. We could all use something good to believe in, take part in and feel good about. Even in tough times, people care about our communities. We hope all South Africans are inspired to buy the book and help enable children’s dreams to come true,” said Oakes.
