SANBS honours Primrose CPF Sector 2 and Lily Pharmacy for community impact

Primrose CPF Sector 2 and Local Choice Pharmacy Lily were celebrated at the SANBS Annual Site Conduct Function for their contributions to blood donation campaigns in Homestead.

Primrose CPF Sector 2 and Lily Pharmacy received top honours at the South African National Blood Services (SANBS) Annual Site Conduct Function on March 13.

The event, held at the eMseni Conference Centre in Benoni, saw the two local stakeholders awarded certificates recognising their contributions. Primrose CPF Sector 2 received the Best Supporting Stakeholder award, while Local Choice Pharmacy Lily was awarded Best Supporting Community.

In 2024, Local Choice Pharmacy Lily, in partnership with Primrose CPF Sector 2 and SANBS, committed to hosting a blood drive every second month in Homestead, Primrose. The initiative has consistently exceeded expectations, with each drive surpassing the success of the previous one.

Primrose CPF Sector 2 chairperson Annie Marie Victor welcomed the recognition from SANBS, emphasising the community’s role in the initiative’s success.

“A big thank you to all of you for always showing up and making this possible. Without the support of our community, we would never have been able to accomplish these goals,” said Victor.

The next blood drive is scheduled for April 11 at Local Choice Pharmacy Lily on Kenneth Avenue, Homestead, from 08:00 to 14:00. Victor encouraged residents to invite friends and family to attend.

Reflecting on the awards, Victor said the recognition highlighted the initiative’s impact.

“The community has always supported us. Alongside the blood drive, we host CPF fundraising events selling boerewors rolls, which have become very popular. All proceeds go to CPF operations, including vehicle registration cameras that help track stolen vehicles,” she explained.

Victor also credited social media and local security stakeholders for helping attract donors.

“Through social media and engaging security groups, we’ve been able to increase donations massively, which is why SANBS acknowledged our work. Sharing our story during the ceremony even moved people in the crowd,” she said, adding that they hope to see even more participants at future drives.
