Police bust 129 suspects and recover 39 vehicles and ten firearms

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

From April 26 to May 2, Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 129 suspects, recovering 39 motor vehicles and 10 firearms.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 41 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, attempted murder, intimidation, theft, possession of suspected stolen property, attempted robbery, malicious damage to property and reckless driving.

In further policing, 39 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 15 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

A total of 10 unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanied by 18 arrests.

In further policing 55 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in these cases.
